High octane!

Whoooooooa !
Fast lane… high speed….
Run, faster, faster, faster, crazy… over stimulated,
hyper-activated, faster, faster turn, run….look, see….whoa…
watch out… there’s another and another… step look, look, look….color, light, sound and motion…
Hurry hurry, watch out, don’t stop, catch your breath…
here we go again!

RUN-LOOK-SEE!
Nope, not Manhattan,
Hồ Chí Minh City, or Saigon as it is called by the locals.

It is the most frenetic city that I have ever had the pleasure and discomfort of experiencing.
I had many preconceived opinions about Vietnam. Vietnam to me was a cacophony of emotions, a dichotomy. It consisted of memories of anti-war marches, of membership in a youth subculture, of an unpopular affiliation with pacifists during my early high school years, of the importance of my friendship with Ruth, of hippies, war, protest, and of long hair and rebellion.
In sharp contrast to my memories were the contemporary stories of the beauty to be found in both its vistas, and the people of this nation.
