Welcome to Ecuador
We got here at about 9PM Monday night. Jeff almost fell off the plane as he didn't seem to notice the 7 inch gap between the plane and the stairway down to the tarmac. As the flight attendant say goodbye enjoy your trip... JK did jut that, and fell front.. then overcompensated and fell backwards on top of the sweet young thing. Oops!
When we got inside, and got online for customs,it was the usual kind of line... NEVER ENDING ! But I will say that I did like the little sign with a little bell that told you which
customs officer to go visit. The only problem was that at least 20% of the people on line could not figure out that it meant ... Yo you it's your turn...move it!
After that we got our first taste for the governments concern or the introduction of "foreign species." We all lined up once again and were thermal checked for the possible contamination by H1N1 aka swine flu ! see the pic to the left.
After picking up the luggage and passing through agriculture we went into the terminal.... whoa! What a welcome. It seems that everyone coming to Quito was being met by an entire family, and tradition seems to include being greeted with balloons of all shapes and sizes, personalized with handwritten greetings on the balloon. What a warming welcome.
